Drive Over Hopper Stackers

Overview

Bunker Filling

There 2 methods of a Bunker Filling

  • Centre filling

  • Side Filling

The first method “centre filling is the most cost effective method of Filling Bunkers

Centre Filling

As the equipment used to fill on the centre line of bunker is much cheaper than equipment used to side fill a bunker

The big difference between the two methods of filling not withstanding cost is the width of a standard bunker

Grain falls at a natural angle that angle is referred to as the “angle of repose” centre filling means the bunker mast be constructed at the natural repose angle of the grain

Given our walls are one meter high than the repose angle plus 1 meter

Side filling a Bunker and the width of the Bunker can be a wide as 40 meters but is limited only by the boom width of the Stacker

The series of photos attached are typical of Centre filling stackers

Side Filling

These photos are typical of side filling stackers

They utilise a “Drive over grid” and a stacker conveyor which are typically belt conveyors

These units are capable of handling up to 600 to 700 hundred metric tons of grain an hour depending on requirements

They can be powered by “Diesel hydraulic” or “electric hydraulic” means

These units are usually employed by grain handlers that store more than 150,000 tons of grain a year given the high upfront cost of purchase
